This backpack is hand-stitched from premium full-grain vegetable-tanned cowhide in our Jodhpur workshop. Full-grain leather is the strongest, most breathable layer of the hide — the natural grain surface (never sanded or buffed) means unparalleled durability and a patina that deepens with every use. Unlike split-grain or bonded leather bags sold at similar price points, a PLW backpack will still look and feel better in 10 years than it does today.

Every backpack is assembled by artisans in Jodhpur, Rajasthan — the same artisan community that has produced leather goods for Indian royalty and European export buyers since the 19th century. No automated stitching: every seam is saddle-stitched by hand using waxed polyester thread, producing a join that will outlast the leather itself.
